Summer!
It's the first day of summer! Here in Nova Scotland it was hot and sunny, and funny. At least funny in the Hades-like confines of the Echo Chamber studio, where Marsh was mixing the tracks for the long awaited True Love Rules follow up, with studio honcho Charles Austin. Quote of the day," A little construction in the background isn't necessarily a bad thing, right?". Joel is possibly out west with the family and the Elk was at the salon clipping like a scrapbook Sweeney Todd. Happy summer to you all and look for more Scrappy Happiness out there this summer, starting in Fort McMurray on June 29th!

Happy New Years eve !
First Thursday recording was bedded in six and is now in the hands of the Silverchilde. Expect a
fresh and tuneful start to the year.
Tomorrow night sees Sloan at the Casino Nova Scotia for two shows. It also sees the last night of
our beloved best club in town, Tribeca. Home to many a True Love Rules gig and JPE alumni.
Forced into closure by the man, who will never understand, whomever he is. Don't trust him.
So Happy New Years eve to all ! 2012 holds promise. Keep yr faith. Rock on ! xo

Thanks to all the rock and rollers for making 3 Nights at the Seahorse,... 3 nights to remember. And thanks to our opening acts, the enigmatic Jay Smith, tight as a can of sardines, Mardeen, and the umber flak enforcement of Yellow Jacket Avenger.
The JPE will be recording at New Scotland yard in January with the new tunes coming fast and furious outta the gate on a weekly basis.
In Halifax this week ? Visit the, soon to be no more, cozy confines of Tribeca for The True Love Rules and Gloryhound on Thursday night. Part of the annual come home week every Christmastime .....you just never know who's gonna hop on stage.
Season's Greetings earthlings !

The Thrush Hermit reunion show at The Paragon in Halifax was the biz and a regular old home coming week . Great to see so many friends out and on the scene . Many of us direct from Super Friendz' Drew Yamada's birthday partay . Opener Dave Marsh and The True Love Rules rocked it , complete with baritone saxophonist Dawn Hatfield , for the timely tune The New Laura Stein ( which name checks Laura Stein , bassist for mid 90's Halifax band and Hermit contemporaries , Jale ) . Also two back up singers in Dawn Negus Jr and Kelly Sloan for the Hermit -requested Steve Miller cover , Fly Like A Beagle .
The Hermit themselves were loud and proud , just like Nazareth , and clearly still riding a natural high when they all joined us at 3am .
And everybody had a goodyear and pursued many laffs deeeep into the night down at Tribeca .
Any reviews of any of the recent Hermit gigs ?

Fantastic Friday night in Halifax at The Lodge /True Love Rules show ; many old schoolies out with a nice mix of new schoolies . Tommy Smith started things off with typical energy , and the very vocal reminder to self to " Keep Things Moving !" , A good selection of classic covers and 2 outstanding originals that Dave Marsh has vowed to produce ; The Lodge , Charles Austin , Mike O'Neil , Gliff Gibb and Andrew Glencross were great . Mike remains a vocalist to reckon with . The terrific banjo Dawn Negus played 3 songs ; In Spite of Ourselves , Oklahoma , I Remember You with Dave and then 2 more , Got No Kids of Our Own , I'll Let Them Know You Were Here with the whole group . Attendees included Sarah McCullloch and Matt Lumley . Sherry Lynn Jollymore . Rich Terfry was in the house . So were Paul ' Sutts ' Sutton , Pete Digesu , T Roy , Kevin Lewis , Stove , Larry , Jason , Jay lar , old friends from Dartmouth High , Kyle Shaw , Alison Beckett , Johanna , Jack Julian , Claire , Marilyn , Jenn Adcock , Kim Stewart ,with Carolyn and Dr. Dan . And many more . Later on , coming down from their own show , Matt Mays , and Jay Smith . Drew Yamada took to the stage for The Little Things , True Love Rules ,and Wide Boy . Steve Rolston also joined the band for a pistolian version of his Raining On Me . Phil Zwicker did a bang up job from the sound board . Another early friday show soon . Magic .
