Joel bought a wicked Japanese German car. It's now on a train, heading to Nova Scotia...where the rust licks everyone's lips.

The JPE are off to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival for a Main Stage show Friday night, and are excited to see Gillian Welch perform right before us.

In Alliston we found a quilting exhibit and I thought Joel's jacket just had to join the party.

Joel joins Dave Marsh and The True Love Rules for artist Mike Lewis' Nocturne event at the Hydrostone Gallery .

While JOEL resuscitates the UK single -handedly , Emergency Dave and Chris remain in Halifax to see destiny semi -fulfilled with a stellar show at the Carleton with a guy that Springsteen invites on stage , NYC's Willie Nile , that defied the mortality of rock and roll . Sunday night saw the end of the Bare Naked Ladies tour with Joel and Pete opening the shows . After the show Mike Campbell's Carleton was the place to be .
Joel next heads to Britain and Ireland for a series of gigs . The Emergency reconvene for the Alderney Landing Canada Day show on July 1.

Joel Plaskett won his first Juno tonight and we are all very proud of him . It's safe to say , the first of many .

Joel and band are moving from the prairies to the nations capital for a few days of well desrved rest . The Emergency joins them monday for a couple days of rehearsal before the Eastern shows remaining .
Meanwhile back at the ranch , what a rocking time was had at Tribeca 'tother night . It was the closest CBGB's vibe I've felt since ... cbgb's ? Nah , the Marz bar was better . ... more like the Double Deuce on Hollis with a dash of Flamingo stage 1 ( Grafton ) . Tom Smith got so excited when we joined him on stage for Warsaw that he popped 2 strings on his fancy new Taylor acoustic . I lent him mine and he blew our minds with the original composition , Long Sleeves . The Skank Williams were next . Adorably fantastic . Then Dawn and Dave with I Remember You by Steve Earle , and on to The True Love Rules ; 3 piece , dead simple , new danelectro pedal , step ... 1 , 2 , 3 , and boom ... newbies , ' I Manipulated ' , ' We Don't Belong ', and ' Wide Boy ' . Rolly topped the evening off , joining the band onstage where we blew the lid off with his ' Raining On Me ' , Steve Jones style . Zwick did a great job FOH . Late night come down drink , home to bed . Magic .

SLOAN with Dave Marsh's True Love Rules this friday night , The Grawood , Dalhousie Uni . That turned out to be a grand night all round . Unusual number of handcuffs and arrests but most remained at liberty and had a real cool time . Sloan were on fine form ; some nice hardcore slams and a rocking visit from Patricks pop on keys . Radio MRCH broadcasted all night from the merch pavillion with hype man Kevin ( Skip Lowe ) Hilliard divining the 50/50 draw .
The True Love Rules also laid down a bitchin' 8 song chicken dinner with the hotness supplied by the ladies of Skank Williams on Move You Around . Magic !

A grand St' Paddy's day at the Carleton in Halifax with Joel Plaskett , Paul Boudreau , Paul Sutton , Steve Poltz ,Thom Smith , Dave Marsh , Stove . Steve Poltz entertained the hell out of a full house with a little help from Joel and the lovely Coco Alcorn .

Joel Plaskett's new TRIPLE album has been making the rounds and they're already talking Oscar . He looks sure to maintain his championship belt , resplendent with JOEL buckle . Early faves include Beyond ,Beyond ,Beyond ; Sailors Eyes ; Rollin ,Rollin' ,Rollin' and Demons . But there's still a lot to digest ; a real King of Donair effort .And just as satisfying .
