CKDU Radio Show

A new year and down time for the JPE doesn't mean down time downtown. Joel's New Scotland Yard recording studio is ready and able, with Sean McCann from Great Big Sea set to record there this month. The recording band will feature Erin Costello, and the boyhood Dartmouth Duo of Clive McNutt and yours truly.
Speaking of yours truly; here's a link to a radio show on CKDU where Dave Marsh and the True Love Rules discuss and play 4 songs from the forthcoming album. Dig.
Last week's Aaron Petrie's Cosmic Haligonian Music on CKDU88.1FM featured Dave Marsh & The True Love Rules live in the studio, special lineup of Dave, Scotty Macculloch of The Straightjackets & Paul Boudreau of Cool Blue Halo. Short chat about Plan B Freeskool with one Ms. Charlene Gagnon, a Gram Parsons cover by Gillian Welch, tunes from The Handsome Family, Anthology of American Folk Music, Erin Costelo & more. New Brunswick Rock

The Saint John Imperial Theatre and Moncton Capitol Theatre were two more stellar shows in beautiful settings with those rocking fans. Hard to top, but it's on to Nova Scotia and our first trip ( really? ) to Windsor, The Home of Hockey, and Truro, The Home of Hookey ( according to my trailer park heroes, Hip Club Groove ). Come say hello.
And we haven't forgotten our final east coast gig of the year on Wednesday, Glace Bay! at the, also gorgeous, Savoy Theatre. All shows being ably opened by our pal and moral compass, Mo Kenney!Photo: Imperial Theatre, Saint John

Newfoundland Labrador and fish cakes

Breakfast in Gander was the fish cakes. Just like yesterday in Bonavista was the fishcakes. Only these fish cakes were a little different; fluffier, less compact, little more h'onion. Doesn't matter, the fish cakes in Newfoundland and Labrador are what fish cakes are all about. They're like Roy Orbison songs, they are awesome everywhere.
One small downer has been the scarcity of caribou meat , but the hunts been off for a couple years so that makes sense. We 're still hopeful of some moose.Tonight, however, is Justin's mom's place in Grand Falls, and there, awaits us, is the full jiggs dinner. Can't wait. The show might get a little bluesy for the first while.

St. John's, Lab City, Goose Bay, Bonavista,Gander; it's all been the tour I was looking forward to.
You're next, Grand Falls, Cornerbrook, Stephenville, Clarenville!
